Fortuna

The local area.

Fortuna is a spa town to the northeast of Murcia near the border of the province. Famous for its hot springs which were greatly appreciated by the Romans, Fortuna is fast becoming popular once again as the town becomes an important centre for hydrotherapy, beauty treatments and other therapies associated with the natural hot mineral water. Fortuna is a typical Spanish town, as yet unexploited, with peaceful streets and a white church with a curious tower. For country lovers, to the south of Fortuna, there is a large lake, enclosed in a nature preservation area and surrounded by woods, ideal for walking or fishing.

If you like to be close to the water, then the vast lake at Fortuna is a lovely place to spend a lazy day. For the evenings there are restaurants in Fortuna town and, within a short drive, there are many pretty, unspoilt villages which have quaint tapas bars and restaurants

This special area is also renowned for its natural beauty and hot water spas. The spa itself (Banos) houses a full-size swimming pool filled with natural hot spring waters and is popular with both locals and visitors.

This undiscovered haven away from the hustle and bustle of the coastal towns is only a 40 minute drive from Alicante and is an ideal location for a healthy, relaxing retreat into a typically Spanish laid-back way of life.

The Camp Site.

Murcia Holiday/Residential Holiday camp is situated at the foothills of the dramatic Murcia mountains, the spa town of Fortuna is the local village which caters for a variety of cultures including the English. The campsite has a swimming pool and a very popular bar and restaurant on site, which offers a variety of theme nights including a quiz, bingo and games nights. Sunday lunch is very popular often catering for over fifty sittings. The site has Sky TV, Internet and telephone access to each plot, for those staying for long periods.

For those who want an active retreat there is a golf course 20 minutes drive away. Hiking, walking and mountain biking over the hills of the National Park are all available. Walking and hiking in the hills of the Sierra Del la Pillar National Park is a walkers delight. Depending on your experience and groups requirements walks are tailor made to suit. One of our guides will take the group on a suitable route over the mountains whilst walkers and hikers soak up the dramatic scenery. Walks ensure a traditional Spanish Tapas meal at dinner or alternatively sandwiches will be provided. At the end of a walk or hike a soak in the spa baths at Fortuna or to just sit round the pool is the best way to relax.

The Costa Calida like the Costa Blanca is part of the "Mediterranean zone". The Costa Calida also has very mild winters, and has quite a low rainfall (12 to 17in). There are between 2700 and 3000 annual hours of sunshine, with temperatures in summer exceeding 30 degrees
