Water Sports and Theme Parks in the Malaga Area

 

The abundance of facilities, the wonderful climate and the hospitality of the people make this area absolutely ideal for sport lovers. You can enjoy water sports -swimming, sailing, boating, jet skiing, and also track and field sports. There are sports complexes, football-fields gyms all over the coast that are open all year round. If the sea attracts you, you will find sub aqua and sailing clubs all along the coast. Windsurf boards can be hired in most of the ports and on the majority of tourist beaches. The beaches of western Costa del Sol have the best winds due to their proximity to the Straits of Gibraltar. But the winds off the rest of the coast are generally mild and the water calm. For holiday makers, the major attraction of windsurfing is the exhilarating fun - they say it's the most fun you can have with your shorts on and more people are interested in having fun than winning races. It is not necessary to be superbly fit to cope just able-bodied. Similarly, the sport does not demand much physical strength, although this might depend on just how many times your sail flops into the sea and the need to haul it back up again. Overall though, a good sense of balance is more important and apparently women are often better than men because of their natural grace.

Accessibility, safety and an ample range of complementary services are the main characteristics of nearby Malaga marina. It has many large berths, as well as yacht clubs, sports facilities, boat and equipment rental, hotels, casinos and shopping areas, plus fuel, workshops, cranes and winter hangars. There you can find a flotilla of Topper dinghies ideal for beginners, as well of other boats for experienced sailors. We guarantee that you'll be sailing from the first day on. After a short theoretical introduction to the basis of sailing, such as: rigging up, wind, trimming of sails, rudder, rhumbs, centreboard, what if you capsize... You'll be sailing away under the supervision of instructors on a safety boat. Alternating periods sailing yourself and of being on the safety boat, to receive further explanations, will help to accelerate your learning.

Tivoli World, the Costa del Sol's biggest theme park, is located in nearby Benalmadena There are two dozen rides to choose from, including those geared towards tiny tots, as well as regular concerts, flamenco shows and a choice of restaurants and bars.

Sea Life, situated at the entrance of Benalmadena Port, is an excellent aquarium with a 'touch pool' educational section for young children who can handle crabs and starfish, as well as see tiny sharks and rays swimming in their egg cases with the aid of magnifying glasses. Opening hours are 10 am to 8 pm and the entrance is 5.90 for adults and 4.10 for children under 12.

Aquapark, about ten minutes walk north of Calle San Miguel near the Palacio de Congresos, is a typical family-fun water park with more than 30 rides, including the blood-curdling Kamikaze chute.

Vilanova Park is one of the most beautiful and impressive campsites in Spain. The facilities and position of this luxurious park have to be seen. Placed on the Costa Dorada, it is blessed with a year-round excellent microclimate.

The Park is in a natural environment, surrounded by trees, with spectacular views over the swimming pool and the sea. At the restaurant you will find Catalan as well as European cuisine, and also varied entertainment events daily.

Whilst situated in the quiet countryside, the Park is only a short drive (or take the regular bus service from the Park entrance) from the beaches of Sitges and Vilanova with their miles of golden sand.

The park is owned and run by an Englishman, Gary and his Spanish wife, Magdalena. For over 20 years they have developed the park, adding new facilities and improving the plots with further improvements continuing today.

The plots are the first to be allocated for mobile homes, although many English people already occupy wooden chalets on the park. The plots are in a mature section of the site, gently terraced with mature trees and palms. They are of a generous size and will allow a 'single unit', plus decking and space for a car.

The park owners live on-site and are dedicated to keeping it to the highest standards. An outdoor pool is available for most of the year and tennis courts, bar and a small shop are available for resident's use. Entry is via electronically operated security gates.

The Local Area

The Murcia region and the Costa Calida are becoming increasingly popular holiday destinations. With low cost flights to Alicante and Murcia and a new airport being built at Murcia, we expect to see a huge rise in popularity for this region.

Visitors are attracted to the year-round sunshine, lower cost of living and more relaxed lifestyle.

Our park at Totana is only 45 minutes from Murcia airport and is set about a mile and a half outside the town on a straight, level road.

Totana is a lively town with all amenities including shops, bars and restaurants. Only a few minutes drive takes you into the beautiful scenery of the pine-wooded hills to the north, or to picturesque medieval villages such as Aledo.

The beaches of Mazzaron are only 20 minutes drive away should you wish to spend a day by the sea.

Saydo Parks at Mollina, Andalucia
